Citadel Donates More Than $100,000 to United Way of Chester County

Company Reached Fundraising Goal for 2016, Will Set New Goal for 2017

EXTON, PA - Citadel announced today it donated more than $100,000 to the United Way of Chester County in 2016 – a total of $103,480. Donations from the company included both employee fundraising and corporate giving. Citadel’s employee fundraising goal was to reach $50k in 2016 for the United Way, and now the company is setting a new goal for 2017.

“Raising money for the United Way is important to everyone at Citadel because we believe in giving back to the communities where our customers live and work,” said Maria Steffy, Chief Financial Officer, Citadel. “All of our employees are extremely dedicated to reaching the goal each year. We’ll continue to support the United Way’s efforts to make our communities stronger.”

Each year, Citadel kicks off the United Way fundraising by setting a goal and establishing milestones. Citadel employees voluntarily form teams to help raise money for the United Way’s various organizations. In addition, Citadel sponsors United Way events throughout the year to contribute to the goal, and provides a match to employees’ contributions.

In 2016, United Way awarded Citadel with the Spirit of Chester County Award – the highest award given each year representing the pinnacle of giving, advocating, and volunteering.

“Every year we’re truly moved to see how much time and dedication Citadel employees give to support our cause,” said Claudia Hellebush, CEO, United Way of Chester County. “We’re tremendously grateful for Citadel’s continued support. It’s wonderful and unique that it’s a companywide initiative.”

As a community-based financial institution, Citadel encourages employees to give their time and talent to assist corporate partner organizations or non-profits of personal choice. In 2016 alone, Citadel employees volunteered more than 450 hours to community organizations across Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties.

The United Way of Chester County unites people and mobilizes resources to build better lives and stronger communities. The organization’s vision for Chester County is a community where all residents have the opportunity to achieve a vibrant and healthy quality of life.
