How to Join
Joining by Geography
Although Citadel started as an employee credit union for Lukens Steel Company in southeastern Pennsylvania in 1937, we’ve been a not-for-profit, member-owned community credit union since 1986. Today, anyone can open an account with us if they live in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Maryland, and West Virginia.

Joining Through Your Family or Work
You can also become a member if you are part of a Citadel affiliated Select Employee Group (SEG) through your employer, or if a member of your family or household is eligible to be a member—no matter where you live.

What You’ll Need to Join
All it takes is a one-time $1.00 deposit into a savings account to activate your Citadel membership. To open an account at Citadel, you’ll also need the following documentation:
- Social Security Number
- Government-issued ID (driver’s license/passport)
- Funding method (bank account & routing number or debit card to make your $1.00 deposit)
