Limited Penny Supply Remaining

Due to the nationwide discontinuation of penny production, Citadel is no longer able to obtain pennies. We do have a limited supply of pennies available for business members, which we estimate will last through the first half of 2026 based on current usage patterns.

Please note: We are no longer able to offer pennies to consumer members.

What Businesses Need to Do Now

Businesses should not wait until their penny supplies are depleted to act. To prepare for penny-free operation, we recommend implementing the following business practices as soon as possible:

• Check Your Inventory: Audit your coin inventory and estimate how long your current penny supply will last based on your transaction volume.

   

• Implement Rounding: All cash transactions will need to be rounded to the nearest nickel, where permitted. Digital payments will still be processed to the single cent.

   

• Update All External Touchpoints: Revise all necessary signage, receipts, and digital assets to reflect new rounding policies.

   

• Train Your Team: Educate staff on policy changes and promote electronic payments where appropriate.
